Sadly, we need a lot of shoes.

We’ll be taking 579 pairs of shoes across New Zealand between August 26 and International Suicide Prevention Day on September 10. Find out more here.

Email kiaora@yeswecare.nz if you are keen to collect and not just donate shoes.

What we need:

  • Pairs of shoes
  • Clean
  • Laces tied together
  • They can be worn, but not visibly broken.
  • Specifically:
    • Shoes for eight to 13-year-olds, (We now have enough)
    • Teenagers’ sneakers,, (We now have enough)
    • Male shoes for 20-year-olds +,
    • Female shoes for 20-year-olds +,, (We now have enough)
    • Adult Gumboots, and
    • Slippers your gran would wear.

Where to drop them off:

  • Shoes can be dropped off at drop off points around the country (see below).
  • If you are donating more than 30 shoes, please contact us in advance.
  • Please put shoes in large plastic bags so they are easy to transport and don’t get wet.
  • We may not be able to collect all shoes offered for pick up.
  • Any shoes we collect and are unable to use will be donated to a suicide prevention charity.

What will we do with the shoes afterwards?

Once we have finished the roadshow we will donate them to charity shops and groups that want to use them to raise awareness about suicide.
