This project is all about providing a voice to Kiwis affected by suicide. There are a number of ways you can get involved
- Help setup the actions
- Help run the local action
- Run a media event in your town, even if the roadshow doesn’t come there. (This could be with the number of shoes of people lost in your region, or just a pair of your loved ones shoes)
- Speak in the media at your local roadshow event
- Come to Wellington on International Suicide Day and/or to our public meeting on the following day.
The success of the shoe project relies on Kiwis affected by suicide speaking out about their story and the change we need to see.
While the shoes provides a striking image, it is really a platform for a local person to tell story people can relate to.
It doesn’t matter if you have or haven’t told your story in the media before.
The events in Wellington on the 10th and 11th will help us build national momentum. We would like as many people who have spoken out on the roadshow to come to Wellington on International Suicide Prevention Day and our public meeting on the following day. We have a small fund to assist people who need it. This will be essential to getting national, and not just coverage.
