Bill Naish of the Mangawhai Builder caught a class 32-kilos fish in mid-water. In a recent trip, he experienced big tides and 20-25 knot winds, and was nearly a mile from shore with each drift. Hapuka and bass are the most common species caught, and some decent kingfish are caught, as well.
