New Zealand Parent Resident Visa

New Zealand offers a range of visa options for parents. This includes a residency visa for parents that is sponsored by their New Zealand citizen or permanent resident child. Applicants must meet policy criteria including health and character requirements.

The NZ government introduced measures for the Parent Category on October 12, 2022, which included reduced income requirements for sponsors and more visa availability. You can check the latest updates on the NZ Immigration website.

EOI

The new NZ parent resident visa is a pathway to residency for parents of NZ citizens and residents. It was recently reopened to the relief of many families who have been waiting years to be reunited with their loved ones.

The first step is submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI). EOIs are entered into a selection pool and selected by a random ballot. Applicants must meet minimum income requirements based on the average New Zealand median income for 2 out of the last 3 years. This minimum income requirement is updated each year.

Once an EOI is selected, Immigration New Zealand will invite the applicant to apply for residence. Applicants must complete and submit an application form for residence and provide supporting documentation to New Zealand Immigration. They must also agree to sponsor their parents’ living expenses for 10 years if they can’t afford them. In addition, they must meet health and character requirements. Applicants must also prove that they can meet any costs associated with deportation and repatriation.

Residency application

This visa is available for parents, grandparents, and legal guardians who want to live in New Zealand permanently. Applicants must be sponsored by their child who is a permanent resident or citizen of New Zealand. The sponsor must have sufficient income to meet the minimum requirements of the scheme, which is based on the New Zealand median income and changes each year. The sponsor must also provide tax statements from Inland Revenue.

Once an EOI is selected, Immigration New Zealand will invite the person to make a residency application. This process can take a while, and it is important to have all the correct documents. Those who apply for this visa must also get a chest x-ray and a medical examination. They must also present a police certificate from their country of origin and any other countries where they have stayed for more than a year. They must also pass an English language test. If successful, the visa will allow the person to travel freely in and out of the country for up to two years.

Medical examination

The medical examination is an important step in obtaining a New Zealand parent residency visa. The exam is conducted by a doctor in your own country and includes a chest x-ray. Having this exam will allow you to get a much quicker assessment of your health and will help you avoid delays in processing your application.

If the adjudicating officer thinks that your condition could place a high cost or demand on the public health system, you will receive a PPI (Potentially Prejudicial Information) letter from Immigration New Zealand. This indicates that there is a high probability that your condition will have a negative impact on the New Zealand public health system.

Applicants will still need to meet health, character, and English language requirements. However, the EOI process has been revamped to include a lower income threshold and a new joint sponsorship arrangement that allows sponsors to combine their income with their partner’s. Previously, the sponsor’s income had to be solely their own.

Police certificate

Police certificate is an important document for any immigration visa application. It will help the immigration officer assess your background and risk. It also helps determine whether you can live and work in New Zealand. It can also determine the best location for you to live in New Zealand. It is valid for 6-12 months and you must obtain it before submitting your application.

The Parent Category Visa NZ allows parents of an adult child who is a New Zealand citizen or resident to live in the country permanently. It is a two-stage process that begins with an Expression of Interest (EOI). Once you have been invited to apply for the visa, you will need to meet a number of requirements, including health and character.

Your sponsor must provide adequate accommodation for you and pay your healthcare costs, cover the cost of deportation or repatriation, and ensure that you have access to appropriate income. Your sponsor can use their own income or they can combine it with that of their partner and any other sibling.
